A Man without a Father
In Society we call them orphans. Children who lose their parents… or, who are lost from their parents. But strictly speaking there are some things in life you can never lose, even when you lose them. The identity of man is one such thing. One can make mistake about it, yet it remains the same. Once you have a father, you can’t lose one. You are the son of your father even when he passes away. You don’t adopt a new father.
However, in this article I am talking about some men from human history who never had a father… yes never, ever. Surprised? Hang on! First man without a human father was Adam. The Bible mentions him in Genesis 2. God Himself created him, formed out of the dust of the Earth and became a living soul when God breathed a breath of life into him. So whom would Adam, the First forefather of the whole human race call his father? Yes, God desired to be called his father and gave him the grand opportunity. Two Millenniums back another man was born in human history. His name is Jesus Christ. He was not a man without impact. He wasn’t such a man whom you could easily brush aside as one of many. If you did, you do not even have a reference point to your calendar. Prophet Isaiah had predicted 740 years earlier that the coming Messiah will be born from a virgin. When the angel announced this reality to Mary the mother of Jesus in Luke chapter 1, she asked the question, “How can this be?” How could she have a son without a man being physically involved? Biologically incorrect? Yes, but not for the AUTHOR of the BIOS and the LOGOS. The angel answered, “He will be called the Son of the Most High God.” He was man without any real human father, but he called himself the Son of God. There is a third category of people who have a problem regarding their identification of their father. Most people will fall in that category. They have a human father, but they do not know that they also have a heavenly Father. Yes many seem to casually speak that I know that we are the children of God. However, a real belief or unbelief in that statement can be easily verifiable in their hearts by counting how often they have actually addressed God as their Father in their hearts. According to the Bible, faith in Christ produces a miracle of a man finding his heavenly Father and never be lost again. In the spirit now he calls him, “Abba”. Luke 15 narrates a story told by Jesus of a son who became a prodigal by going away from his father. When he was returning after many losses and bad decisions, he contemplated something in his heart which went like this : “I will say to my father, “I have sinned against you. I am not worthy to be called your son. Take me in the home as a servant.” What a classic case of mistaken identity. In that story son was in for a pleasant surprise. The father ran up and hugged and kissed him. He interrupted the son’s speech midway and threw a party of joy. Many people try to offer God their works, religion and discipline without realising that they are not called to be servants but sons. All you need to do is cry out in your heart to the One and Only Father in heaven – who is the Father of Adam, the Father of the Son of God and also your Father. Say, “Father, forgive me. I come". The New Testament begins by saying this about the Lord Jesus Christ, “Whoever believed in Him, to him He gave the right to become the children of God.” “Behold what manner of love God has bestowed upon us that we may be called the children of God.” PS - If you would like to enjoy a thought provoking spirituality quiz, then jump to our fun quiz page.
